Roughrider Fall to Gila Monsters
For the first time in the 2017 season Yavapai lost back to back ACCAC matches after falling to Eastern Arizona College at home on Friday night 1-3. The final scores were 20-25, 25-16, 23-25, 23-25.
The Roughrider offense came up short with a team hitting percentage of only .081. The team knocked out 51 kills but 31 attacking errors were the team’s undoing. Defensively Yavapai was solid with 70 digs. Sophomore libero Hanah Semon led the way with 24 of those digs.
Yavapai still holds the lead in the ACCAC by the narrowest of margins with an 8-4 record. The next 3 teams are 9-5 (Scottsdale), 9-5 (Mesa), and 7-4 (Eastern Arizona). The loss drops the team’s overall record to 14-11. The Roughriders will look to rebound next week as they travel to Yuma, AZ for their last regular season match on Friday October 27th (7:00 pm).
