Roughriders Win the Crosstown Battle with a 3-0 Sweep

Tonight both Prescott volleyball teams squared off on the court in Walraven Gym for the annual Crosstown Battle Against Breast Cancer. Yavapai came away with a 3-0 victory over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (25-15, 25-22, 25-19). The Roughriders offense was efficient as the team hit .162 and the defense was strong accumulating 36 digs and 6 total blocks.

All of the proceeds from tonight’s event will be donated to the Breast Care Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott Valley. Both teams would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support; Safeway Grocery Stores, Barrett Propane, Ponderosa Hotel Group, Warbirdshirts.com, My Kid’s Dentist, Prescott Orthodontics, Raskin’s Jewelers, and Norkus Realty Group.

The leader offensively was freshman outside hitter Nynke de Vries with 13 kills. She was followed closey by three more Roughriders who all contributed 9 kills each; sophomore middle blocker Bailey Anderson, sophomore outside hitter Jailynn Butler, and sophomore right side hitter Kaytlin Yost.

Tops defensively was freshman libero Victoria McCarty with 13 digs. Tops at the net defensively was sophomore middle blocker Bailey Anderson with 4 total blocks.

The Roughriders improve their overall record to 12-8 and will return to ACCAC action on Friday in Yuma at &;00 pm as they take on the Matadors of Arizona Western College.
