Volleyball Releases 2017 Schedule


The Roughriders will look to challenge themselves with a difficult non-conference schedule in 2017 as they prepare for another run at the NJCAA National Championship tournament. The team will open the season with 4 road matches at the Coyote Classic in Las Vegas, NV. The first match of the season will be against the perennial powerhouse College of Southern Idaho. The Golden eagles won the NJCAA DI National Championship in 2015. The 2 day tournament will also include matches against Laramie County CC (WY), Sheridan College (WY), and Saddleback CC (CA).

Following the trip to Las Vegas the Roughriders will open the conference portion of their schedule at home against the Gila Monsters of Eastern Arizona College on Thursday August 31st at 7:00 pm.

Following the match with EAC the team will host the 4th annual Roughrider Invitational presented by the Ponderosa Hotel Group. Yavapai will welcome 7 teams to Prescott for the Invitational including 5 from out of the state. Those 5 will be; Snow College, Colorado Northwestern CC, New Mexico Military Institute, College of Southern Nevada, and Utah State University-Eastern. The Invitational will also include Eastern Arizona College and South Mountain CC. The Roughriders are scheduled to play at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday September 1st then again at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturday September 2nd. That will conclude 5 tough matches for the Roughriders in only 3 days.

The following weekend Yavapai will return to the Star Invite hosted by College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. While in Idaho the Roughriders will be compete against 3 teams who spent most of last year ranked in the top 10 including Salt Lake CC (finished 5th at Nationals), CSI (4th in final poll), Snow College (8th in final poll).

After the trip to Idaho the Roughriders will jump into the heart of their conference schedule with 3 consecutive home matches against Glendale CC, Arizona Western College, and Mesa CC. Yavapai will continue with the ACCAC portion of their schedule until October 4th (Wed.) when they will host the Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the 4th annual Crosstown Against Breast Cancer. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Breast Care Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott Valley.

The Roughriders will conclude their regular season schedule with a road match in Yuma, AZ as they battle the Matadors of Arizona Western College on Friday October 27th. After the ACCAC schedule is complete Yavapai will look forward to the opportunity to earn a trip to the NJCAA DI National Championship Tournament which will require the team to win the Region 1 / District C Championship. In 2017 the National Championship Tournament will be hosted by Hutchinson CC in Kansas.
