Roughriders Finish 2017 with an Outstanding Record of 49-7

The 2017 season for the Roughrider softball team came to an abrupt halt on Saturday morning in an elimination game of the NJCAA Region I Division I Tournament. YC fell to Eastern Arizona College, 10-2. The Green and Gold concludes their season with a 49-7 overall record, a 44-4 ACCAC mark and an ACCAC Regular Season Championship.

Yavapai fell behind early as Eastern Arizona scored 2 runs in the first inning and added a run in the third inning. YC got on the board in their half of the third on a run-scoring single from Andrea Sotelo knocking in Shayna Ige. The Gila Monsters added 2 more runs in the top of the fourth and YC countered with a solo run in their half the inning. Eastern Arizona sealed the victory in the top of the fifth with five runs and YC failed to score in bottom of the inning to doom the Roughriders.

Shayna Ige and Mahina Chong each went 2 for 3. Andrea Sotelo was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Mariah Kalamaras was 1 for 2 with a run batted in.
