7 Softball Players Earn Honors Including Player and Pitcher of the Year

The Roughrider softball team dominated the conference post-season awards as voted on the coaches. YC placed seven players on the ACCAC All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region Teams.

Jaydee Boursaw was named the ACCAC Player of the Year and Kianna Spencer earned the ACCAC Pitcher of the Year.

Boursaw led the conference and the NJCAA in home runs and was tops in runs batted in the ACCAC and 2nd in the JUCO ranks.

Spencer was a perfect 19-0 on the year and led the league in Earned Run Average (1.40) and had 84 strikeouts

Andrea Sotelo was voted onto the 1st Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team All-NJCAA Region Team. Sotelo led the country and conference in batting average at .576. She also broke the record for career home runs at Yavapai College.

Raelynn Rios was also chosen to the 1st Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team All-NJCAA Region Team. Rios hit a whopping .485 with 20 home runs and 70 runs batted in.

Amy Robinson earned her second All Conference Award being named to the 2nd Team All-ACCAC Team and the 1st Team All-Region Team.

Karissa Pena was named 2nd Team All-ACCAC member. Pena was a rock at the hot corner with a .964 fielding percentage. She hit .366 with 7 home runs.

Shayna Ige garnered 3rd Team All-ACCAC honors. Ige hit .377, scored 37 runs and stole 19 bases.

The Lady Roughriders begin the NJCAA Region I Division I Tournament on Friday at 11:00 AM against Pima Community College.
