Softball Splits Doubleheader with Eastern AZ

The Roughrider softball team’s 17-game winning streak came to a halt in Thatcher Saturday afternoon against Eastern Arizona College. EAC beat the Riders in the opener, 8-3 and Yavapai began another winning streak in the nightcap with a 5-3 victory. YC is now 24-3 overall and 20-2 in the ACCAC standings.

The offense struggled in the first game only managing five hits in the game. Mariah Kalamaras led the way with a solo home run.

In the nightcap, YC overcame an early 2-run deficit and Kiana Spencer held the opponent in check for the final 5 innings.

Raelynn Rios dealt the go ahead blow with a 2-run home run in the 5th inning. Andrea Sotelo and Jaydee Boursaw each had two hits.

Spencer got the victory surrendering five hits and striking out 4.

Yavapai continues ACCAC play on Thursday at Bill Vallely Field as they entertain Gateway Community College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
