Softball Completely Dominated Chandler-Gilbert in 2 Shutouts
The Roughrider softball team swept a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field over Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 8-0 and 11-0. YC is now 21-2 on the season and 17-1 in the ACCAC standings.
Jaydee Boursaw and Kiana Spencer dominated the Coyotes in the first game from the plate and the rubber.
Boursaw had a banner day blasting 3 home runs in 3 at bats driving in 7 runs. The freshman catcher hit a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, a grand slam in the 3rd inning and solo shot in the 5th inning.
Spencer allowed 1 hit while striking out 7 batters from the slab to gain the victory.
Santana Parra was 2 for 2 with an RBI and a double.
In the nightcap, the Rider bats pounded 12 hits en route to the lopsided victory. Merceds Rothwell was 3 for 4 with a double. Mikayla Newham was 2 for 3 with four RBI’s. Andrea Sotelo was 2 for 3 with 2 runs batted in. Mariah Kalamaras was 2 for 3 with 2 runs knocked in and three runs scored and a home run. Haley Parson was 1 for 2 with 3 runs batted in.
Santana Parra got the victory from the circle scattering 3 hits while striking out 3.
Yavapai takes to the road for the next week playing at Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday and at Eastern Arizona College on Saturday. YC entertains the Geckos from Gateway Community College on Thursday, March 16th.
