Baseball Splits Road Games with Arizona Western

The Roughrider baseball team split a road doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Yuma against the Matadors from Arizona Western College. YC dropped the first game 5-1 and bounced back in the nightcap, 8-3. YC is now 13-11 on the season and 2-6 in ACCAC action.

In the opener, the Roughriders could only manage 4 hits in the game. Cory Wills, Dylan Enwiller, Jeddediah Fagg and Trevor Edior got the hits for the Green and Gold. Rez Aleaziz took the loss despite scattering 4 hits and striking out 8 Matador batter.

Arizona Western took an early 1-0 lead after one inning but YC countered with three runs in their half of the second and cruised the 8-3 victory. Dallas Tessar had the hot stick belting 2 home runs. The California native was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in. Caden Goldby was 1 for 4 with a three-run dinger.

Jake Kolterman pitched 4 innings for the victory. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits.

YC returns to the friendly confines of Roughrider Park for their next doubleheader. On Saturday, March 11th, Yavapai entertains Pima Community College. The twinbill begins at 12:00 PM.
