Roughriders Bounce Back Against Bruins

The Yavapai College Roughrider baseball team won a back-and-forth affair Tuesday afternoon against the Bruins from Salt Lake Community College, 10-8, Yavapai improves to 3-4 on the young season while Salt Lake falls to 4-3.

The Roughriders and Salt Lake traded the lead back-and-forth on Tuesday, but eventually the Green and Gold took the lead for good in the sixth inning. YC was down 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Dallas Tessar tripled driving in two runs to take the lead for good.

Salt Lake took an early lead in the first inning putting one run on the board. Yavapai answered with one of their own in their half of the second inning. YC added three more in the third inning highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Dylan Enwiller.

The Bruins countered with a lone run in the fourth but YC matched that with a single run in the bottom of the inning.

Salt Lake took the lead in the top of the fifth inning with five runs and added another run in the sixth frame before the Roughriders scored five runs in the sixth to seal the victory.

Andrew Gross earned the win for Yavapai. He went three and a third innings, allowing six runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking one.
Zach Pederson started the game tossing three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs, two hits, and striking out five.

Yavapai College Roughriders Varsity had 11 hits in the game led by Dylan Enwiller and Dallas Tessar, each going 3 for 4.

These same two teams will finish the four-game series on Wednesday with a single 7-inning game beginning at 1:00 PM at Roughrider Park.
