Four Roughriders Named to NSCAA All-West Team

Four Yavapai College soccer players were named to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Junior College Division One Men’s All-West Team. They include sophomore defenders Jacob Malach (Boise, Idaho) and Juan Ramirez (Aloha, Oregon) along with freshmen attackers John Scearce (Phoenix, Arizona) and Carlo Quesada (Las Vegas, Nevada). Malach and Ramirez, co-captains of the 2016 team, anchored the central defense. Quesada led Yavapai in goals scored (16) while Scearce recorded a team high 16 assists, the fourth highest total in the country.

Founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, Missouri, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America has grown into the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization. The next annual national convention will take place in Los Angeles, January 11-15, 2017.
The Roughriders captured their 26th conference title in 2016 before losing in the West District Playoff. Yavapai College (592-54-27, 28-year overall record) opens the 2017 campaign with a home match on August 22 and will play host to next season’s NJCAA National Tournament, November 13-18.
