Calhoun Named MVP
Former Roughrider baseball player and current Los Angeles Dodger prospect, Willie Calhoun was named the 2015 AFL (Arizona Fall League) Fall Stars Game held on November 5th at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.
Calhoun was 3 for 3 with a home run and two runs batted in. During the 2016 season, Calhoun hit 27 home runs and 25 doubles and had a slugging percentage of .469.
While at Yavapai, Calhoun led the squad to the NJCAA DI World Series after he had a record-breaking season at the dish. He led the Roughriders in hits (98), runs scored (83) and home runs (31) breaking the record previously held by Brian Deak (29).
Additionally, Calhoun was named the ACCAC Player of the Year, named to the First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-NJCAA Region I and was an NJCAA DI First Team All-American member. Following the 2015 season, he was drafted in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
