Volleyball Makes it 10 in a Row with Shutout of Central Arizona

For the second time in less than 24 hours the Roughriders beat the Vaqueras 3-0. The Saturday afternoon match up finished with scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-10.

Freshman middle blocker Maddie McKeown turned in her best performance of the year 4 kills on 5 attempts for a hitting percentage that led the team (.800). Sophomore outside hitter Iva Alebic gathered the most kills (10) despite not playing the whole match. Sophomore setter Jordan Tilley also turned in a strong performance with 26 assists, 3 blocks, 3 kills (>333), and 1 service ace.

The win improves the Roughrider’s overall record to 18-9 (.667). Their conference record stands at 11-4 (.733) Yavapai will travel to Yuma, AZ on Wednesday for their final ACCAC match of the season against Arizona Western College. Today’s win also secured a spot in the post season for the Roughriders for the 2nd consecutive season. Yavapai is scheduled to play Eastern Arizona College in the first round of the District C Championship on Wednesday November 2nd at 7:00 pm on the Roughriders home court of Walraven Gym.
