Volleyball Almost Hands Arizona Western Their First Loss

It was a marathon match between the Roughriders and Matadors on Friday evening in Walraven Gym. Yavapai fell behind dropping the first 2 sets by scores of 20-25, and 18-25.

After the intermission Yavapai started to attack for points and ended up taking set 3 by a score of 25-19. Set 4 started off in favor of Arizona Western but Yavapai was not going to go away quietly and battled back to eventually win the set 25-20.

Set 5 started off with both teams trading points, then the Roughriders gave the scoring advantage to the Matadors with 3 errors in the middle of the set. Arizona Western held on for the 10-15 win in set 5 to remain undefeated on the season improving their record to 15-0. The loss drops Yavapai to 8-8 on the season and 2-3 in the ACCAC.

Both teams will return to Walraven Gym on Saturday at 3:00 pm for a rematch.
