Softball Concludes Outstanding Season with 4th Place Finish at National Tournament

The Roughrider softball team’s season came to abrupt halt Saturday after a Cinderella run through the post-season. Having to play three games on Saturday, Yavapai fell short in the run for their third national title. Yavapai concludes the 2016 season with a 50-17 overall record, an NJCAA Division I Region I Championship and a fourth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Yavapai began the day with a 7-4 loss to Butler Community College, KS forcing the Riders to play an elimination game against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Yavapai was strong coming away with a 7-3 victory advancing them into the Final Four and a semi-final game with Salt Lake Community College Friday evening.

The three games took their toll as the Green and Gold fell to the Bruins, 8-3 to close the door on their exceptional season.
