Roughrider Soccer Alumni News

The next Yavapai College Soccer Alumni homecoming will take place on Saturday, August 20 featuring a match between the 2016 team members and the Roughrider Alumni. Kickoff will take place at 6:00 p.m. at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott. Shirts and other souvenirs will be provided to alumni attending. Alumni planning on participating in the match are asked to wear black shorts and white socks and arrive an hour before the contest. A social “hour” for alumni and friends of the program will begin at 8:30 p.m. at Augie’s, 1721 E State Hwy 69, Prescott (1 mile from the field). Great food and drinks until 10:00 p.m. or so. Then it’s off to your favorite downtown locations. Alumni planning on attending should contact Adam Kulpa (Yavapai College 1999, 2000; San Diego State 2001, 2002) at adamkulpa@yahoo.com for additional details including lodging information. All 459 soccer alumni members are welcomed to attend!

The previous alumni game in 2014 resulted in a 3-3 tie between Roughriders from the 20th century versus former Yavapai players from the 21st century. Seventy-five former players returned to Prescott for the event. In addition, the 1990 National Championship Soccer Team Members were inducted into the Yavapai College Athletic Hall of Fame during the homecoming weekend. They included goalkeepers Andre Luciano, Marvin Cassler and Justin Ground; defenders Jose Corona, Mate Kozul, Tyler Schlink, Tony Robson, Peter Orona, Nick Bramini, Ken McMillen and Mike Wilcynski; midfielders Rocco DeNardis, Jose Miranda, Heath Tagtmeyer, Bobby Bell, Kurt Funkhouser, Ed Brooks, Jeff Stringham, Kurt Funkhouser, Steve Macias, and Joe Owen; forwards Edson Rico, Remy Bilsback, Kobah Washington, Roger Salazar and Joe Harman.
