Former Roughrider Named Head Soccer Coach at Fort Lewis College
David Oberholtzer, a starter on the 2003 Yavapai College National Championship Team, has been named the Fort Lewis College Head Men’s Soccer Coach. Oberholtzer was a left winger for the 2003 and 2004 Roughriders, scoring 14 goals with 16 assists. The Roughriders were 45-4-1 during his tenure.
Oberholtzer is no stranger to Fort Lewis as he played two seasons and was named to the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and All-Tournament team as a senior. He also served as the Skyhawks assistant coach from 2009-2012, helping the Durango, Colorado school to NCAA Division II National Championships in 2009 and 2011. Since 2013, he held a similar position at the University of Dayton were he helped the Flyers to the Atlantic 10 Tournament championship title and to the NCAA Second Round playoffs.
He was a 2003 graduate of Corona del Sol High School in Tempe prior to coming to Yavapai College.
