Softball Splits Road Games with #19 Eastern Arizona

Andrea Sotelo swung the big bat for the Green and Gold as she went 4 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Mikayla Newham and Sydney Forray were each 3 for 5. Forray knocked her fourth home run in three games. Dustie Durham and Jocilyn Ellis each had two hits.

Amy Robinson got the victory (9-6) in the circle striking out 4 batters and surrendering 12 hits.

In the third inning of the second game, YC took a 4-0 lead in their half of the third inning only to relinquish 11 runs to the Gila Monsters in the bottom of the frame. The rest of the game, the Lady Riders could only muster two more runs to fall, 13-6.

Mayhina Chong was 3 for 3 in the game with a double and 2 runs batted in. Sotelo, Nicole Matta and Sarah Ingegneri each had two hits.

Yavapai continues ACCAC DI action on Saturday, April 2nd as they host league leading Arizona Western College. In February, the Matadors swept the Roughriders in Yuma, 3-2 and 11-3. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
