Yavapai Drops 2 to Phoenix

The Roughrider softball team dropped an ACCAC doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field, 10-1 and 5-0. YC falls to 24-10 on the year and 16-8 in the conference standings.

In the opener, Yavapai managed only 3 hits against the Bear pitching. Dustie Durham took the loss on the mound despite only giving up 3 earned runs.

It was a pitcher’s duel through four innings in the nightcap before Phoenix put two runs on the board in the fifth and followed that with 3 in the sixth. Amy Robinson got the loss surrendering 11 hits while striking out 7.

Offensively, Jocilyn Ellis and Mayhina Chong each had two hits.

YC begins the second half of the conference season on Saturday, March 19th at Paradise Valley Community College. YC swept a doubleheader from the Pumas in February, 5-0 ad 10-0. Saturday’s twin bill begins at 12:00 PM.
