Baseball Splits with ACU
Taking a break from conference play, the Roughrider baseball team split a doubleheader with the visiting Firestorm from Arizona Christian University. YC dropped the first game 5-3 and put out the Firestorm in the nightcap, 19-7. Yavapai is now 14-9 on the year.
In the opener, the Roughriders squandered a 3-1 lead allowing the opponent to plate four runs in the final three innings.
Nate Easley led the Rider offense going 2 for 3. The Glendale native knocked his fifth home run of the year and drove in 2 runs.
Ryan Oberg took the loss from the mound throwing 1 1/3 innings and striking out 1.
In the late game, the Roughrider offense exploded for 12 hits including 3 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Ryan Oberg was a perfect 4 for 4 with 6 runs batted in with 2 doubles and 1 home run. Brock Ephan was perfect from the dish going 3 for 3 with four runs knocked in. Ephan has hit 4 home runs in the last there games. Ramsey Romano also knocked a home run and drove in three runs.
Jeddediah Fagg got the victory in three innings pitched .
YC resumes conference play on Saturday, March 5th as they host fellow Division I nemesis Arizona Western College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
