Volleyball Signs “Impact” Player from California

Yost signing 1Head Volleyball Coach, Zach Shaver announced on Tuesday the signing of Kaytlin Yost. Yost is a 6’3″ right side hitter from Fullerton, CA. She played on the outstanding varsity team at El Dorado High School all 4 years of her prep career. The Golden Hawks won the Century League Championship in 2013 and made it to the State Quarterfinals that year. Kaytlin was selected to the Century League 1st Team in 2013 as well. In 2014 she repeated the Century League 1st Team honors as well as her team’s Best Offense Award. In her senior season (2015) Yost earned her way on to the All-CIF Division 1A Team, plus her school’s Scholar Athlete Award, and Coach’s Award.

Kaytlin’s club volleyball career started with a 1st place finish at the AAU National Championship in Florida while she individually earned the tournament MVP award as a 14 year old. She currently plays for Impact Volleyball Club on the 18’s – Henry squad.

Kaytlin joins four other future Roughriders who signed National Letters of Intent in the fall; Lauren Ulibarri (Libero), Baylie Stephens (Middle Blocker), Jailynn Butler (Outside Hitter), and Bailey Anderson (Middle Blocker / Right Side Hitter). These future freshmen of 2016 will join 5 returning sophomores who led the Roughriders to their first ever District C Championship and birth into the NJCAA DI National Championship Tournament (16 teams).

Yost action 2Coach Shaver commented on the signing of Kaytlin Yost by saying “Kaytlin will be a very physical presence in the ACCAC! She is dynamic for her height and is already an outstanding attacker. I believe she will develop into one of the most intimidating blockers Yavapai has had in a long time. She has a high volleyball IQ and which enables her to be a 6 rotation player which is less common now days with players who are 6’3″. We are very happy that she chose to become a Roughrider and that she will be on our side of the net starting in 2016!”

Currently the Roughriders are in the early phase of their spring training but the coaching staff is happy with the physical gains and volleyball improvements the players are making. Following Spring Break Yavapai will travel down to Phoenix on Wednesday March 16th to take on NCAA DI Grand Canyon University in a spring scrimmage at 7:00 pm. The next spring scrimmage is scheduled for Friday April 1st at Embry-Riddle University (time TBA) where Benedictine University will be joining the Eagles and Roughriders on the court. The 2016 is currently be finalized and will be announce soon.
