Yavapai Finishes the Weekend 2-2

The Roughrider baseball team split two games on Saturday in the final day of the Coyote Slugout in Henderson, Nevada. In the opener, YC beat Prairie Baseball Academy, 15-0 and fell in the nightcap, 7-2 to College of Southern Nevada. YC is now 5-5 on the season.

In the first game, the Roughriders blasted 13 hits, 4 for extra bases led by Christian Maggi and Gavin Johns with 3 hits. Maggi had 5 runs batted in. Brock Ephan hit a grand slam.

Jeddidiah Fagg three five innings to get the victory from the mound. Fagg scattered five hits and had 3 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Riders only managed 7 hits. Nate Easley and Ramsey Romano had two hits apiece.

Chase Beal took the loss for the Roughriders throwing 3 2/3’s innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits.

YC continues non-conference in their 2016 home opener on Monday, February 15 against Salt Lake Community College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
