Softball Starts Season 3-0 Against Ranked Teams

Softbal 2016 1The unranked Roughrider softball team knocked off a pair of ranked teams Friday in their opening day of the 2016 season.

YC began the day with an 11-1 victory over El Paso Community College and then knocked off #5 Salt Lake Community College, 4-3 in eight innings. Immediately following that game, Yavapai beat #18 College of Southern Idaho, 7-1.

Dustie Durham got the victory in the first game, Amy Robinson went the distance in the second game and Durham got her second victory of the day in the third game and Robinson got the save.

Against Salt Lake, Sydney Forray had the big blow with a two-run HR in the opening frame.

Lynae Klemmedson popped her second three-run homer of the day in the sixth inning to create some distance in the score.

The Green and Gold retun to the diamond Saturday morning against Western Nevada College and finishes the tournament against Snow College and Colorado Northwest Community College.

The Roughrider baseball team won their opener against Colorado Northwestern 5-2 and fell to the host team, College of Southern Nevada, 4-2.

YC resumes play on Friday against Salt Lake Community College and College of Southern Idaho.
