Five Roughriders Named to NSCAA All-West Soccer Team

Five Yavapai College soccer players were named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Junior College Division One Men’s All-West team. They include sophomore defenders Niall Logue (1 goal, 2 assists) and Hugo Gutierrez (8 goals, 4 assists); sophomore attackers Reece Weldon (25 goals, 13 assists) and Guillermo Diaz (10 goals, 6 assists) along with sophomore goalkeeper Greg Patenaude (0.91 goals against average, 10 shutouts). The Roughriders finished the 2015 season with a 19-3-1 overall record while capturing their 25th conference title. Players from other schools in Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, Oklahoma and Kansas completed the All-West selections.

Last week both Niall Logue and Reece Weldon were named to the NJCAA All-America first and second team respectively, becoming the 57th and 58th All-Americans in the program’s history. Today, Weldon was also named to the NSCAA All-America second team. This year’s All-America banquet will take place in Baltimore on January 16 in conjunction with the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America annual convention.
