3 Roughriders Named to All-ACCAC Teams

At the conclusion of the 2015 ACCAC season, the head coaches met in Glendale and the first item on the agenda was to select the All-ACCAC and Region 1 teams. Yavapai, who finished their conference schedule in 2nd place with a record of 14-2, placed 3 players on the All-ACCAC teams and 2 on the All-Region 1 team.

website Iva hitting 3Freshman outside hitter Iva Alebic was named to the All-ACCAC 1st team. In conference, Iva played in 14 matches, 49 sets, and she totaled 234 kills (4.78 kills per set). She finished as the best in the ACCAC in both categories even though she did not play in 2 ACCAC matches. For the entire season, she accumulated 381 kills (4.70 kills per set), 192 digs, 34 blocks, and 14 service aces. Alebic was named to the All-Tournament team at the New Mexico Military Institute Classic in August, ACCAC DI Player of the Week in August and then again in October. For her efforts, Iva was also 1 of the 6 players selected to the NJCAA DI All-Region 1 Team.

Jordan setting 2 croppedFreshman setter Jordan Tilley earned the top spot on the All-ACCCAC 2nd team. Jordan played in all 16 ACCAC matches and finished the conference schedule with 556 assists (9.75 assists per set). Tilley leads the Roughriders with 28 service aces (.33 service aces per set) in ACCAC play. She has also contributed 154 digs and 16 blocks to the Roughriders 14 ACCAC wins. For the entire 2015 season, Tilley has put up 746 assists, 215 digs, 22 blocks, and 28 service aces. She was also named ACCAC DI Player of the Week on September 28th. Jordan joined Iva Alebic as 1 of the 6 players selected to the NJCAA DI All-Region 1 Team.

Scottsdale Paige blockingSophomore middle blocker Paige Hamilton earned a spot on the All-ACCAC Honorable Mention Team. Paige played in all 16 ACCAC matches and contributed 120 kills with a .301 hitting percentage which is 2nd on the team and 9th in the conference. Hamilton has also chipped in 53 blocks (0.93 blocks per set). For the entire 2015 season, Hamilton accumulated 173 kills, .273 hitting percentage, and 81 blocks. Paige was also named ACCAC DI Player of the Week on October 12th.

The Roughriders received the ACCAC DI Player of the Week 7 out of the 9 weeks and 6 different Roughriders earned the award. Iva Alebic was named POW the first and final week of the 2015 season. When asked about the awards, head coach Zach Shaver commented, “I am very proud of the recognition for Iva, Jordan, and Paige. In my opinion, volleyball is the ultimate team sport because athletes must rely on their teammates in order to score points. Without a solid team surrounding Iva, Jordan, and Paige, they would not have been able to post the outstanding statistics they did.”

The Roughriders have earned a bye in the first round of the District C playoffs and will host the winner of the Eastern Arizona / Seminole State match on Friday at 7:00 pm in Walraven Gym.
