Volleyball Finishes ACCAC Schedule on a 5 Match Win Streak
On Friday evening Central Arizona gave Yavapai everything they could handle but the Roughriders were victorious. The 3-1 win included scores of 25-21, 25-16, 25-27, 27-25. The win improved Yavapai’s record to 21-6 overall and 14-2 in the ACCAC which is good enough for 2nd place. The record also secures the Roughriders the #1 seed in the District C playoffs. The #1 seed entitles the team to a bye on Wednesday and home court for the District C Championship match on Friday November 6th at 7:00 pm.
The Roughriders had an incredible 81 digs in the 4 sets against the Vaqueras. Sophomore libero Brooke Donnelly anchored the defense with 20 of those digs and she was followed closely by sophomore right side hitter Kayle Park who had 18 digs. Freshman setter Jordan Tilley was 3rd with 15 digs. Tilley also earned 45 of the team’s 49 assists in the match.
In the kill column freshman outside hitter Iva Alebic was tops with 21 kills. Sophomores Kelsey Park and Shelby Mottram were tied for 2nd in kills with 10 each. Mottram hit an outstanding .500. As a team Yavapai hit .211 which is right at their ACCAC season percentage of .210.
The Roughriders will now prepare for their playoff match (Nov. 6th @ 7:00 pm) with an opponent yet to be determined.
