Volleyball Returns Home With a 3-1 Victory

On Friday evening the Roughriders traveled to Central Arizona College to take on the Vaqueras. Yavapai won the match 3-1 by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19. The win improved their overall record to 15-5 and ACCAC record to 8-1.

“Our team started both matches this week with solid play but found ways to improve and play even better as the matches went on. That is tough to do on the road in the ACCAC. I think it is a sign of a mature and confident team.” stated head coach Zach Shaver.

Scottsdale Iva hittingYavapai’s strong hitting percentage of .319 was key to the victory. Six different players hit over .300 including Kayle Park (.500), Kelsey Park (.464), Shelby Mottram (.444), Paige Hamilton (.333), Kelly Bumb (.333), Jordan Tilley (.333). Iva Alebic led the team in kills with 18 (.222) and added 9 digs.

Kayle Park and Jordan Tilley who split the defensive duties in the right back position both accumulated 12 digs a piece. Libero Brooke Donnelly anchored the left back position and amassed a team high 24 digs.

The Roughriders return to action at home in Walraven Gym on Wednesday against Mesa College at 7:00 pm.
