Brooke Donnelly Earns POW Honors
Sophomore libero Brooke Donnelly earned ACCAC DI Player of the Week honors for her which led to the Roughriders finishing last week with a 3-1 record. Yavapai volleyball has had a Roughrider named as POW each of the first 2 weeks of this season with freshman outside hitter Iva Alebic bringing home the honors last week.
Donnelly’s statistical totals for the week were: 63 digs (4.5 per set), 9 assists, 5 service aces, and 1 kill. Her highest dig total (22) came in the team’s win over South Mountain CC on Saturday which was the final match of the Roughrider Invitational presented by Marriott Hotels. For the season Brooke has totaled 210 digs with an average of 5.3 per set which currently ranks her 13th in the country.
Head Coach Zach Shaver said, “Brooke’s stats were great but her ability to make momentum changing digs and sets brings a dimension to our team that most other liberos do not posses.”
Yavapai is preparing for a ACCAC DI showdown with the Matadors of Arizona Western when the team travels to Yuma, AZ on Wednesday. It will be the team’s 3rd ACCAC match of the 2015 season, they currently are 2-0 in the conference and posses an overall record of 8-4.
