Volleyball Signs Cienega HS Standout

Pomeroy 4On the first day of July head coach Zach Shaver announced the signing Kassidy Pomeroy from Tucson, AZ to a National Letter of Intent.

Shaver commented, “Although we are not usually recruiting for the upcoming season in mid June when Kassidy contacted us I took a quick look at her video and realized immediately that we should investigate her situation further. Although we are very happy with our previous 5 signees for the 2015 freshmen class I always felt as if there was a small piece of the puzzle missing. After seeing what Kassidy was capable of on the court and getting to know her personally we knew she would fit in well with our team and give us more offensive fire power.”

Kassidy is a 5’9′ right side hitter who played for Cienega High School and Zona Volleyball Club both located in Tucson, AZ. Academically, Pomeroy earned high honor roll all 4 years at Ceinega High School as well as Renaissance recognition every semester. She was a member of the Key Club her freshman year and the Link Crew her junior year. Athletically, she was a member of the Cienega Varsity volleyball team her junior and senior years. She was also chosen to compete on the high level traveling teams all 5 years she played with Zona VBC.

When Coach Shaver was asked about what stood out about Pomeroy he stated “She is very dynamic and her ability to attack several different angles as a left handed hitter will make her difficult to defend. She has a fast arm swing and great hand contact on the ball. I see the potential for her challenge at the right side hitter position on day 1 of pre-season.”

The Roughriders will open the 2015 season in Roswell, NM with Odessa CC at the New Mexico Military Institute Classic on Friday August 21st. Pomeroy joins 5 other incoming freshmen and 10 returning sophomores who are only 38 days away from returning to Prescott for the beginning of their pre-season practice schedule.
