Eight Roughriders Drafted by MLB
Yavapai College was well represented in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft this week with eight players with ties to the Roughrider baseball program begin drafted in the first 38 rounds of the 40 round draft.
Drafted Roughriders that played this past season for the NJCAA West District Champions include: Willie Calhoun, Chandler Eden, Luke Doyle and Alexis Olmeda. Former YC players drafted are: Chance Adams (2013-14; Dallas Baptist University); Drew Turbin (2012-13; Dallas Baptist University); Tim Arakawa (2012-13; Oklahoma State University); and Josh Anderson (2011; Florida International University).
Calhoun, the ACCAC Player of the Year, was picked in the fourth round, the highest Roughrider pick since 1986 when Curt Shilling was chosen in the 2nd round by the Boston Red Sox.
