3 Roughriders Earn Softball All-ACCAC or NJCAA DI All-Region
On Monday, he ACCAC announced its 2015 softball awards. The conference’s 13 head coaches voted on the All-Conference/Region teams, as well as the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
The Roughriders Jocilyn Ellis, Samantha Blair and Nicole Matta were named to the All-ACCAC and NJCAA Division I All-Region I teams.
For her efforts this year, Ellis was named to the 2nd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team NJCAA Division I All-Region I. The Medford, OR native led the team in batting average (.423), hits (83), doubles (19), RBI’s (46), runs scored (49) and stolen bases (30/31). Ellis was also named the ACCAC Player of the Week on April 13th.
Blair was named to the 3rd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team NJCAA Division I All-Region I. Blair finished sixth in the conference in strikeouts with 120. She had 16-12 overall record and an ERA of 3.02.
Matta was also named to the 3rd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team NJCAA Division I All-Region I. The Basha High School product hit .332 for the year with 65 hits, 11 doubles, 2 triples (tied for team lead), and 5 home runs. Matta was named the the ACCAC Player of the Week on April 4th.
All three players are true freshman.
