Roughrider Soccer Relocating
Because of the lack of an on-campus soccer field at Yavapai College , the Roughriders soccer team will move operations to Point Roberts, Washington where the town recently approved a 2.1 million dollar facility to be completed prior to the upcoming fall season. All players will take on-line courses to maintain eligibility while residing in the scenic setting. Point Roberts is a part of the mainland United States but is not physically connected to it. The community is located in a small rectangular-shaped U.S. enclave just below the 49th parallel. It’s surrounded on three sides by water and shares an international border with Canada on its northern side. The move should also enhance recruiting efforts where many soccer players are currently located in the United States Federal Witness Protection Program including recently signed Roughriders Vic Ferrari, Nick Jaguar and Chick Corvette. The season opens against Laramie County Community College on August 21. This release was posted on APRIL 1st.
