Roughrider Baseball Returns Home with a Dominant Win
A five-run seventh inning sealed an 11-1 win for the #11 ranked Roughrider baseball team over Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday in Thatcher. Yavapai improves their overall record to 15-5 and 6-4 in ACCAC play. EAC falls to 8-12 on the year and 2-8 in the conference standings.
YC began the scoring early with two solo home runs by Luke Doyle and Alexis Olmeda. Eastern Arizona cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning but Yavapai erupted for 5 runs on an error, an RBI single by Olmeda, an RBI double by Alexis Cruz and a two-run single by Austin Paschke.
Cruz swung the hot bat for YC going 4 for 5, driving in one run and scoring two. Marco Jaime was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Andrew Hermanson, Olmeda and Paschke each had two hits.
Degan Harte was dominant on the mound striking out six, allowing one earned run in seven innings.
YC returns to the friendly confines of Roughrider Park on Saturday March 7th entertaining fellow conference foe Pima Community College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
