Roughriders Trample the Wolfpack

2015 baseball2 2.18The Roughrider baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Roughrider Park over the visiting Wolfpack from Thompson Rivers University, Canada, 10-1 and 6-1. YC improves to 10-4 on the season.

In the opener, Luke Doyle and Brock Hartley had banner games going 3 for 4 with a run score and 2 RBI’s. Willie Calhoun was 2 for 3 and Austin Paschke was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a home run (4).

Will Jones was lights out on the mound throwing 5.1 innings and striking out seven to record his first victory on the year.

In the second game, YC was held scoreless fifth inning scoring 2 runs and then plating 4 runs in the sixth inning. Caleb Duhay took a no-hitter into the fourth inning and finished scattering 2 hits while striking out five.

Offensively, John King, Doyle and Paschke each had two hits to pace the offense.

Yavapai resumes conference play on Saturday, February 21st when they host fellow conference nemesis Central Arizona College. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM and will be played at Roughrider Park on the Yavapai College campus.
