Softball Signs PHS Standout
On Tuesday January 6th at 4:00 PM former Prescott High School outfielder Sydney Forray signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Roughriders. Sydney graduated a semester early from Prescott High School to come play softball for Yavapai. Sydney becomes the seventh addition to the program brought in by Coach Eastman and Coach Frizzell.
When Coach Frizzell first noticed Sydney she was catching at a tournament here in Prescott. Coach Frizzell said “ I noticed Sydney had a pretty good glove and arm, but we were pretty solid at the time with catchers. Low and behold, a few weeks later, after speaking with Sydeny about hitting, I noticed her playing centerfield and hitting the ball about 250 feet. It was at that time I invited her in for a visit. She had a great workout.”
Sydney had three great years roaming the outfield for the Badgers at Prescott High School. She continued to play in the summer with the Batbusters and with the Prescott Lady Hawks. She competed in many tournaments, including some state championship and national qualifiers. Coach Frizzell added “Sydney will be a great addition to our program. She brings a work ethic second to none, she is a wonderful student and a quality young lady, we look forward to having her for the next two years.”
In addition, Coach Eastman said “Sydney will be a great addition to our 2015 roster. I believe with her great work ethic and ability that she will have great success as a Lady Roughrider.”
