Five Roughriders Named to All-West Soccer Team

Five Yavapai College soccer players were named to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Junior College Division One Men’s All-West team. They include freshmen defenders Niall Logue and Hugo Gutierrez both of whom started and played in all 23 matches while anchoring a defense which featured 15 clean sheets. Freshmen attackers Jason Romero (22 goals, 17 assists) and Guillermo Diaz (15 goals, 11 assists) led the nation’s best attack (103 goals) along with sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Diaz (0.33 goals against average). The Roughriders finished the 2014 season with a 20-1-2 overall record while capturing their 24th conference title. Players from other schools in Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Kansas completed the All-West selections.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Junior College Division One Men’s All-America team will be announced tomorrow.
