Volleyball Signs Highly Touted Setter from Oregon

Jordan Tilley 1On Wednesday November 5th Jordan Tilley a setter from Ashland, OR signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Roughriders. By doing so Jordan becomes the first member of the 2015 freshmen recruiting class for Yavapai Volleyball.

When head coach Zach Shaver was asked about the early signing he commented, “A great setter is always our first priority in each recruiting class. When I first saw Jordan playing in the Phoenix this past July I knew immediately that she was our top choice for the position!”

In Oregon Jordan is the setter for Coach Robin Akpan at Ashland High School and also plays on the 18 Gold Team for the prestigious Webfoot Juniors Volleyball Club in Eugene coached by Brian Wodke. In her junior club season her Webfoot team qualified and competed in the Junior National Championships in Minneapolis, MN. Just last week her Ashland HS team competed in the Oregon High School State Championship Tournament. Jordan started winning awards such as setter of the week from the Ashland Daily Tidings as early as her freshman season.

Coach Shaver added, “Jordan is a dynamic and athletic setter who has played at an extremely high level during her prep career. Our coaching staff expects her to challenge returning setter Kayle Park from the first day of practice.” When Shaver was asked what separated Jordan from other setter recruits he said, “She has all the physical tools to be an excellent collegiate setter but her dedication to and love of volleyball is not something we see very often. She is one of those rare players who is the first one in the gym and the last one out on most days which makes any team she plays for better, we feel fortunate that she chose to become a Roughrider!”
