Yavapai Soccer Earns 5 Out of 11 First Team All-Region Spots

In a 11-team region where only 11 spots are available, five Yavapai College soccer players were named to the NJCAA Region One First Team. They include freshmen defenders Niall Logue and Hugo Gutierrez, both of whom started and played in all 22 matches thus far while anchoring a defense which featured 15 clean sheets. Freshmen attackers Jason Romero (region leading 22 goals, 16 assists) and Guillermo Diaz (15 goals, 11 assists) led the nation’s best attack (102 goals) along with sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Diaz (0.33 goals against average). In their 26-year history, 124 Yavapai College players have made the All-Region team with 54 players selected to the All-America team. Roughrider Head Soccer Coach Mike Pantalione (20-0-2 in 2014; 555-46-26 all-time) was named 2014 NJCAA Region One Coach of the Year for the 16th time.
