Volleyball Setter Earns ACCAC DI Player of the Week
On Sunday the ACCAC announces the player of the week for DI and DII volleyball. For her efforts the week of September 14th – 20th Yavapai setter Kayle Park was voted by the head coaches as Player of the Week.
Kayle led her team to 2 victories in less than 24 hours. First she accumulated 58 assists and 20 digs in only 4 sets in the win over Eastern Arizona. Park also hit an amazing .571 with 4 kills on 7 attempts, and added 1 service ace. In the 4 set victory over ERAU on Saturday she gathered 31 assist and again added 4 kills on 8 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. She only grabbed 7 digs against ERAU but she grabbed 6 blocks.
Park’s totals currently for the season include 373 asists (7.46 per set), 48 kills (.96 per set), 117 digs (2.34 per set), 10 service aces (.20 per set), and 25 blocks (.50 per set).
When asked about his freshman setter Coach Shaver commented “She has been a large part of our successes this year! Her athleticism as a setter provides her with an advantage over most setters in our conference. It allows her to be an attacker, handle passes and digs that are tight to the net, and be a strong blocker. She is also very coachable and works tirelessly to improve herself and her team.”
Yavapai returns to the hardwood on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm as they host Chandler-Gilbert CC in an ACCAC showdown in Walraven Gym.
