Volleyball Takes Down NMMI (#17) in 3 Sets

NMMI PH hitting 1Yavapai Volleyball improved their record to 5-6 with a 3-0 (25-19, 28-26, 29-27) win over New Mexico Military Institute on the first day of the Roughrider Invitational. The win over NMMI is the second in as many weeks. The two teams also met in Brenham, TX last weekend and Yavapai came away with a 3-1 victory. The Broncos are currently ranked #17 in the NJCAA pre-season poll.

Yavapai played their most efficient offensive match of the season hitting .216 including .282 in set 3. Right side hitter Paige Hamilton led the way with 11 kills and only 3 errors, hitting .333 for the match. Hamilton also chipped in with 10 digs, 1 service ace, and 2.5 blocks. Outside hitter Amanda Eno also had a strong offensive match with 10 kills while hitting .296. Kayle Park set the offense and tallied 22 assists to go along with a team high 12 digs.

Yavapai returns to action tomorrow as they host South Mountain CC at 11:00 am on Saturday. The Invitational includes 10 matches in all and will conclude with Yavapai hosting Phoenix College at 5:00 pm Saturday.
