Volleyball Struggles at Central Arizona

NMMI KK Blocking 1After returning from a weekend tournament in Texas which saw the Roughrider Volleyball (4-6) team make significant improvements they dropped 3 straight sets, 21-25, 16-25, 18-25 to Central Arizona (4-1). The team’s offense lacked consistency mustering only a .013 hitting percentage. Kendy Klump led the team hitting .500 with 2 kills on 4 attempts. Paige Hamilton led the way defensively for Yavapai with 8 digs, and Kayle park totaled 15 assists.
Yavapai will play it’s first home match of the season in Walraven Gym on Friday at 2:30 pm while they host the Roughrider Invitational. The match on Friday is against New Mexico Military Institute who ranked #17 in the NJCAA pre-season poll. While in Texas Yavapai defeated NMMI by scores of 25-27, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18. Yavapai will face South Mountain CC and Phoenix College as the tournament continues on Saturday. In all the Roughrider Invitational will consists of 10 matches and brings 5 teams to Walraven Gym for the tournament.
