Yavapai Volleyball is Chilling for Charity

On Monday Head Volleyball Coach Zach Shaver was “called out” by former player and current assistant coach at Cedarcrest College, Emily Pany. Chilling for Charity was started by the University of Arizona Basketball coaching staff earlier this summer and has spread rapidly throughout the coaching ranks. It has even jumped from sport to sport including collegiate volleyball coaching staffs.
The idea was to have staffers douse each other with cold water and challenge other coaches to do the same, as a way to raise funds for breast cancer prevention research. Those challenged would have 48 hours to respond. For each coach who answered the challenge, the challenging coach would pay the Kay Yow Foundation $50. Coaches not answering the call were challenged to fork over $250 to the organization.
Coach Shaver gladly accepted the challenge and “called out” 3 more head volleyball coaches. First was Head Men’s Volleyball Coach at UC Irvine, David Kniffin. Second was the Head Women’s Coach at Fordham University, Gini Ullery. Third was his former head coach at Texas State University, Karen Chisum.
