Volleyball Inks 2 More NLIs
The Roughrider volleyball team has filled two key positions on their roster for 2014. Coach Zach Shaver announced today that two more Arizona recruits were signed to National Letters of Intent over the weekend. The first was Anastasia Aguilar who is a libero from Tucson. Second is outside hitter Amanda Eno from Tempe. “We are very excited that they chose to join our program and commit to Yavapai College! Both of these players should compete for court time right away as freshmen.” added Shaver.
Anastasia (Ana) Aguilar is a 5’5″ libero who plays for Tucson High School and Zona Volleyball Club. In 2013/2014 her list of accolades includes; Division II Section II, All Section 2nd Team, Southern Arizona Girls Volleyball All Stars, Lady Lions Invitational – All Tournament Team; Tucson HS Team Captain, and her club team finished 4th at The Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier in the American Division. In her senior season at Tucson High School she accumulated 192 digs and an astonishing 53 service aces while serving as a captain. Ana will enter the fall semester of 2014 as a Nutrition major at Yavapai College. Coach’s comments: “Ana is a very athletic libero and she displays no fear on the court when defending across the net from powerful hitters. We expect her to be in the mix for our starting libero position when she arrives for our fall camp.”
Amanda Eno is a 6’1″ outside hitter who plays for Corona del Sol High School and East Valley Juniors Volleyball Club. In 2013 Amanda was honored with the AIA Student Athlete Award and was also a captain for the Aztecs. In 2014 her club team finished 5th at both The Las Vegas Invitational and The Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier. Amanda will enter the fall semester of 2014 with plans to major in Nursing while at Yavapai College. Coach’s comments: “Amanda is the type of outside hitter that is rare in volleyball today. She has solid ball control skills but also posses the height and power to be a dominating attacker. We expect Amanda to be a force on the outside in the ACCAC.”
