Riders, Gauchos Split Twinbill
The Roughrider baseball team split an ACCAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon with Glendale Community College at Roughrider Park, 1-8 and 12-11. YC is now 21-16 overall and 10-12 in the conference standings.
In the opener, Glendale pitcher Cameron Brendel stymied the Roughriders as they could only muster three hits. YC pitcher Chance Adams took the loss allowing seven runs and striking out eight.
In the nightcap, the Roughriders came from behind to earn the extra inning victory. Brody Clifford singled home Luke Doyle for the go-ahead run in the 10th inning. Doyle led off the inning with a double to the left field gap.
Both teams combined for 36 hits. Luke Doyle led the Roughrider hit barrage going 4 for 4 with a home run and a double. Akoni Arriaga also had 4 hits with two doubles and three runs batted in. Brody Clifford and Andrew Hermanson contributed two hits apiece.
Kamalu Kamoku pitched a perfect ninth inning to get the victory.
Yavapai continues conference play on Tuesday, April 1st hosting #12 Central Arizona College. The Vaqueros split a doubleheader with Phoenix College on Saturday, 3-1 and 0-6. Tuesday’s twinbill will start at 12:00 PM.
