Baseball Splits With Bears
The Roughrider baseball team split a road doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Phoenix to fellow conference foe Phoenix College. YC dropped the first game 1-0 and bounced back in the nightcap to capture an 8-6 come from behind victory. Yavapai is now 20-13 overall and 9-9 in ACCAC action.
In the opener, the Riders wasted 6 solid innings from starting pitcher Chance Adams as he scattered six hits, struck out 8 and walked nobody.
Offensively, Yavapai could only manage six hits on the day and only threatened in the third and seventh innings.
In the second game, Yavapai used a 6 run seventh inning to overcome a 6-1 deficit. The offense pushed one more run across in the eighth inning and Will Jones held the Bears at bay picking up the save in two innings pitched. Kamalu Kamoku picked up the victory.
Andrew Hermanson paced the Roughrider offense with three hits. Alexis Cruz and Stephen Carabajal each had two hits.
YC returns home for a league doubleheader on Tuesday, March 25th against Paradise Valley Community College (18-17, 5-13). The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM.
