Riders Fall to Norsemen

Despite outhitting their opponents Friday afternoon, the Roughrider baseball team lost a non-conference single game to #18 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, 7-5. YC falls to 15-12 overall and the Golden Norsemen improve to 15-4 on the season.

For the majority of the game, Yavapai played from behind. Northeastern Oklahoma jumped out to an early 7-0 lead through 4 innings. YC finally got on the board in their half of the seventh frame pushing two runners across. The Roughrider nine added three more runs in the eighth inning and threatened in the bottom of the ninth but the home team stranded two runners to end the game.

YC outhit the opponent 13-10 but stranded 13 runners on base.

Alexis Cruz and JC Pena each had three hits for the Riders. Luke Doyle, Austin Paschke and Brian Schiemann each had two base knocks.

Yavapai will play two single nine-inning games on Saturday, March 14th. Beginning at 11:00 AM, YC will entertain Northeastern Junior College, CO and at 3:00 PM the opponent will be Western Nebraska Community College. Yavapai will resume conference play on Tuesday, March 17th at Eastern Arizona College.
