Popovic, Mack Named NSCAA AA’s

Sophomore midfielder Milan Popovic and freshman defender David Mack were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Junior College Division One Men’s All-America Team. Popovic and Mack become the 53rd and 54th Yavapai College soccer players named to the prestigious NSCAA All-America team.

Popovic captained the Roughriders to a third place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. This marked the program’s 18th Final Four appearance and 20th national tournament appearance in their 25-year history. The Las Vegas, Nevada midfielder tallied 11 goals with 6 assists for 27 points during this past season. Last month he was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team scoring a classic free kick goal with a minute remaining in regulation time against Burlington County, NJ and had two penalty kick shootout goals in the tournament played in Tyler, Texas.

Mack anchored the Roughriders defense that also won the NJCAA Region One title as well as the NJCAA West District crown in addition to the national third place finish. The Tigard, Oregon native was also named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team and had a key free kick assist in the win over Eastern Florida.

Founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, Kansas, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America has grown into the world’s largest soccer coaches organization. This year’s All-America banquet will take place on Saturday, January 18 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
