Johnson and Fenter Named to ACCAC Teams

After the conclusion on the 2013 season Casey Johnson was named to the NJCAA Region 1 Team as well as the All ACCAC 2nd team. Johnson is a 5’9″ outside hitter from Gilbert, AZ who finished her sophomore campaign with a team high 382 kills. She was 2nd on the team in digs (437) and service aces (31). Johnson also led the Roughriders with 19 double / doubles in kills & digs. One highlight that stands out in the 2013 season was her 15th kill of the night on match point to complete the 5 set victory over Arizona Western on the road. Casey is a Psychology major who is on track to graduate from Yavapai in May.

Freshman Braxton Fenter was named to the the All ACCAC Honorable Mention Team. Fenter is a 6’1″ middle blocker from Vacaville, CA who played in all 32 matches. Fenter finished the season with a team high .287 hitting percentage and an outstanding .326 against ACCAC opponents. Braxton was first on the team with 101 total blocks, 93 block assists, and .81 blocks per set. Braxton is majoring in Nutrition.

Yavapai will return 7 players from the 2013 squad and plans to open the 2014 season at the New Mexico Military Institute Invitational on August 22nd.
