Volleyball Earns 3-0 Win Over Mesa
Tonight the Roughrider volleyball team got back into the win column with a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-22, 25-18) over the Thunderbirds from Mesa and improved their ACCAC record to 6-5 and overall record to 17-10. Yavapai setter Becca long (34 assists) ran a balanced offense with five hitters accumulating between 6 and 9 kills each. The team hitting percentage was .212 with 39 kills. Middle blockers Braxton Fenter and Natalie Fahey led the way hitting .538 (7 kills) and .333 (8 kills) respectively.
Outside hitter Casey Johnson and libero Jasmine Solley anchored the defense with 19 and 13 digs respectively. Yavapai finished the night with 74 digs and 7 blocks.
Coach Zach Shaver stated, “This was a great team win and our level of execution was where we expected it to be.” We have some tough challenges ahead but I believe our team will rise to meet those challenges.”
The Roughriders hit the road for matches at Pima CC on Friday and Phoenix College next Wednesday. Both matches are set to start at 7:00 pm.
