The Roughrider soccer team scored 8 goals in the second half to defeat GateWay Community College, 9-0 Friday night at Ken Lindley Field. YC improves their overall record to 13-0-1 and 12-0-1 conference play. The Geckos remain winless on the year at 0-14-0.

McKay Owsley played all 90 minutes in goal to record the shutout, the fifth Yavapai shutout on the year.

The match was a rare Friday night event. Yavapai is now 42-2-1 on Friday matches including 13 victories in the NJCAA National Semi-finals that are traditionally played on Fridays.

YC returns to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon at Paradise Valley Community College. Kick-off is set for 3:30 PM. On Saturday, October 12th, #4 Yavapai will clash heads with #5 Phoenix College in a rematch of last month’s 2-1 YC victory in Prescott. Game time will be 7:00 PM.
