Soccer Player Receives YC President’s Award

Roughrider soccer player Rysen Barnett has received The President’s Award for Excellence. The announcement was made at Tuesday’s Evening of Recognition at the Yavapai College Performance Arts Center. The President’s Award is for special students who have achieved academic excellence, exhibited exceptional leadership and demonstrated a commitment to community service. Barnett, a sophomore defender from Tucson, played a key role on both the 2011 and 2012 Roughrider soccer teams. He will be moving on to continue his education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix next fall and will be a member of their NCAA Division One soccer program in addition to pursuing his academic goal towards an MBA.
